DIY Inspiration: Cake Stands!
<< Inspiration I: DIY Rustic Wedding Cake Stand Via Once Wed
Talk about a fairy tale like cake stand. Perfect for an outdoors picnic and a themed forest wedding. Of course some pine cones at the base of this would also look awesome
>> Inspiration II: Cake stand via Bee in our bonnet: I know that I would switch it up by using wooden candle sticks, therefore making it easier. And I think I'll look for some wooden lunch trays on top of the candle sticks instead. I'm thinking a Goodwill inspiration would be great!

<< Inspiration III: Colorful Cake Stands via Centsational Girl : the idea is sublime with fun colors.
<< Inspiration V: via Eat Drink Pretty

>> Inspiration IV : There's no tutorial but this is an inspiration from Anthropologie.
I'm thinking that instead of tea stuff coffee mugs and plates would be a much cleaner look!

>> Inspiration VI: Via Intimate Weddings

Dissecting the Cupcake!

1. Cake
2. "Frosting"
3. The Decoration
4. The Cup
Although there are many variations, I decided to highlight my favorites....

#1. THE CAKE: Generally, any normal cake batter (cheesecake, layered cake, etc) can be used for cupcake, after all cupcakes are only bite sized cakes. The easiest to make is cake mix cupcakes. But the best tasting is Butter Cake Batter. This is also known as FATTY, but is so good. I despise Chiffon (foam) or Angel food batter, that's only because I like denser cakes.

#2 THE FROSTING: My favorite frosting of all time is heavy whipping cream made from scratch. I do not have too heavy of a sugar tooth and am not fond of frosting that tastes like another form of sugar. I also like Butter Cream frosting & Cream Cheese Frosting. The key thing for me is a rich frosting that isn't too sweet, but it's light and it's like eating butter without the associated fatty shame.
#3. THE DECORATION: Sprinkles are the classic cupcake decoration, but when you think about it they are pretty chalky on their own. Personally, my favorites are as follows: dark chocolate shavings, powdered chocolate, and thin slices of almonds. At this point it's really a matter of preference. Whole fruit scene or the colorful sprinkles are lovely to look at though.
Project Inspiration: Sparking Nails Tips
The outcome of this venture wasn't as clean as expected. the glitter caked on more than expected. This was a cheap $4.00 venture with two bottles of Pure Ice Nail Polish.
The wonderful inspiration:

When it comes to nails, I have the issue of completing things that are too complex. But the glittered tips with solid colors are a great combination-- a classic and simple twist on the most basic nail polish.
I think I'll start with a dark grey and some sliver. Such a mixture of colors and combinations that will lead to such possibilities!

DIY 5: Jewelry Board

I got the original board from Goodwill for about $4, and used a simple gold acrylic paint and tape to create the stripes. I'd had some problems using the tape properly, resulting in unclean edges. The board was originally white so I did not have to deal with painting anything white.
I mainly use this board to hang my extra cords and necklaces.
I'm considering future adjustments by adding fabric to the cork board.
